Free Leadership Events for Youth

I also offer Youth initiative events where I speak to youth in schools. Two months of the year we offer 1 free event on becoming a better leader.

As a business owner in the roofing industry since 1999 I have learned that the Leader must always be developing himself to stay ahead of his/her team.

I must admit I had to learn the hard way and that’s what it took to get my attention to learn how successful companies lead their people.

The John Maxwell Team has taken me to a higher level in business and besides it’s cheaper to learn from someone else’s mistakes rather than to make them all on our own.

The greatest part I have learned about other people’s wisdom is it can change our life instantly.

We must remain teachable!

In Oct. 2017 the Swarey family relocated from upstate NY and moved to Holmes County Ohio.

I sold my roofing company before we moved and I decided no more roofing. I joined the John Maxwell Team and decided to go into coaching for businesses to help them grow and become more successful and reach out to help others in the community.

About Henry

Beyond the Surface

My goal is to make a difference in everyone’s life, to add value to everyone I meet, and to make this world a better place. The best way I’ve found to do that is to make a difference to the person in front of me right now.

I grew up in the foothills of Pennsylvania in a small town called Path Valley. Path Valley was only 3 miles wide between two mountains. The view down the valley went as far as the eye could see. I was brought up using draft horses for farming, and milked cows by hand as an eighth-grade boy. I went to an 8 grade, one room school house. Never had a high school education or college.

As I entered my adult life at the age of 20, my wife Sally and I got married and started a family. After my first year in my career as a construction worker, I ventured out on my own in the Roofing Industry replacing roofs on houses.

In 2007 I joined a Roofers Success Group and I learned about leadership. That’s when I really became interested in becoming a better person, becoming a better leader and understanding how to lead. To become the person I wanted to be, I realized I had to study more.

Years later I went on to sell my company for a profit I couldn’t have imagined when I started the company.

At age 37 in 2015 my family went through some very difficult times in our personal life. We made the decision to move from upstate New York to Ohio where everything was new and there was no family around. We started a new life, in a new community, and I again started a new venture into the roofing industry where I was competing with hundreds of other contractors for the same business. I now teach thousands of people how to become a better leader.

Thousands of people are also buying my courses and through them I am able to train people from all over the world how to become a better leader and how to grow a company from $0 to $4,000,000 in four years.

I love to go camping with my family on weekend trips out of town, sometimes out of state. In 2015 I had another son who is growing up fast and loves to walk with his daddy where ever he goes. I love to take my son on boat rides in the lake, feed the fish at their nearby pond, and go for walks in the woods behind our house. I believes that to be successful you gotta spend time with your family! Family is the number one priority and must be well taken care.

I also like to take my son out for swing rides behind our house or watch the purple martins make a ruckus in their houses near our pond. I also likes to fix stuff and sometimes you’ll find me changing the brakes on his truck or working on a landscaping project around the house.

I also enjoy flying my airplane, something I would thought impossible for me 15 years ago.

We love to help with Community events when possible. Community is where we can make a difference. Helping others in the community is a way of showing others how to lead. Many people are looking for someone to lead them in their life and many people feel disappointed at the government, for their situation in life. Helping someone in need in the community really makes a big difference.

Church is also very important to me and my family and I continue to faithfully attend and support our church. We are like one big family and we like nothing better than getting together every Sunday and spending the day together. We talk about the Scriptures, we talk about Jesus, we talk about God, we talk about what we’re going through in our lives. It’s really a safe place to talk about anything. We shouldn’t just talk about what we think is the right thing, we should live it out by leading by example.

Charity is another big part of my work for others. Giving to organizations that support the poor locally and in other countries is part of this. I’ve discovered the blessing of giving and do so regularly with a simple system that sets aside a certain percentage of my income to be distributed to charities. I believe the only way a company is successful is when it gives back to the community and back to God. I believe giving is the foundation where everything is built from. All good comes from God and not anything I have done, and so I want to continue to encourage others to do the same.
